Answering the Call to Promote Health and Healing

“…I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, just as it is well with your soul.” —3 John 1:2

Jesus came to give abundant life—spiritual, mental, relational and physical wholeness. Healing stories account for up to 40% of the Gospel narratives. Jesus went about healing the sick, and he called his disciples to heal also. (Matthew 10:5-8)

International Ministries (IM) has been responding to this call since sending Dr. Jonathan and Harriet Price to Burma in 1821. Today, IM medical missionaries include doctors, nurses, therapists and preventive health care workers. They serve with national medical professionals to bring healing to those in need, helping these recipients to then promote health in their own neighborhoods.

In 2011-2012, IM invested nearly $1 million to promote health and healing, sending 14 long-term missionaries and 476 volunteers and short-term missionaries to work with Christian partners worldwide. In 2013, 14 long-term healthcare missionaries are serving, with $851 thousand budgeted for their ministry.
