Pray for Kit Ripley, helping free girls and women from human trafficking through the ministry of New Life Center in Thailand.

February 29, 2012

Kit's primary ministry involvement is with the New Life Center Foundation in northern Thailand where she works in a wide variety of ways with ethnic minorities from the hill tribes.  The New Life Center works with tribal minority girls who have come out of exploitative labor situations or are at risk for becoming victims of labor exploitation. Her work there includes teaching residents Bible and personal budgeting classes, directing the handicraft program and providing pastoral care and leadership development for New Life Center staff. She also leads therapeutic art classes and does clinical consultation with victims of human trafficking.

She shares the following:

  • Praise God for our competent and dedicated team of staff at the New Life Center.  They truly are gifts from God.  Please pray for God's continuing leading, guidance and protection for these staff in serving the 78 teenaged girls under our care.
  • The Thai school year ends in early March this year.  This year, we have 17 graduates from all different levels of education - Praise God!  Many of the girls will soon be heading back to their villages for the summer holidays.  Some girls will be taking summer jobs. Recent graduates will be moving out on their own to find jobs. Other girls who do not have another safe place to go will stay at the NLCF residence during the summer holidays.  Please pray for God to guide and protect each of our precious young women during this time of transition.
  • The property where the Chiang Mai residence is located is a rental property.  We have rented this facility for over 20 years.  The landlord has told us that she is considering asking us to leave within the next year or two so that she can renovate the property, build more buildings and generate more revenue.  (The property is very valuable land in the city.)  We are concerned that it may be difficult for us to find another rental property in town where we can house the 45 residents and staff, plus the activities room and handicraft program.  And we are not currently in a financial position to be able to buy land and build. Please pray for God to make His will clear and provide just the right place where the girls can thrive in a safe, secure environment.
  • Please pray for God to bless all of the donors who support the ministry of the New Life Center through their generous financial gifts, including the many faithful people who support me and my colleague, Karen Smith so that we can serve there.
