Kheli with her new guitar, a gift from Miqlat.
About this Mission Project
Kheli was just 16 when she was sold by her husband. For almost 20 years, Kheli was a drug addict, prostitute, ring leader and pimp. Today, thanks to Miqlat Ministry, Kheli is a different person. She’s open, fun-loving, bold and honest.
Miqlat Ministry offers alternatives to women in the sex trade by providing training to live a vibrant and dignified life.
Since 2004, Miqlat has helped more than 200 women to start their own businesses, and become nurses and other trained professionals. Their dream is to buy land and erect a building to offer more employment opportunities, house staff and provide spiritual nourishment through Bible studies, devotions, seminars and retreats.
Mission Project Specifics
This project seeks to raise $14,300 by 2015 to purchase land suitable for a permanent home for the Miqlat Ministry in Dimapur, part of the Nagaland Baptist Council of Churches in India, an IM partner. Miqlat Ministry is one of the few ministries that has taken up the challenge to work with these down-trodden women. The purpose is to provide training and employment for some 100 or more families.
This project will be managed by Ms. Asha Sanchu, Director of Miqlat. It is anticipated that this project will improve the overall physical, emotional, educational and spiritual well-being of the community.
