STEP Scholarships for Tijuana

This project seeks to raise $250 per student for up to 100 students in the next school year.

Goal: $250 per child up to 100 children

About this Mission Project

The Student Tuition Expense Program (STEP) will provide a school uniform, books, school supplies and tuition for a child for a year for just $250.

The goal is for STEP funds to help 100 children attend the Centro Pedagogico Didaque, a Baptist grade school in Tijuana, Mexico.  Located in one of the  poorest and most dangerous areas of the city, the school focuses on reaching barrio children who are disabled, disadvantaged or emotionally disturbed and thus unable to attend other schools.

Thanks to STEP, many of these children are able to experience God’s love and escape from difficult home environments.

Former recipients of STEP funds have gone on to higher education, break the vicious cycle of poverty and become community leaders.  The more severely disabled students have gained dignity and hope for the future.

Mission Project Specifics

This project seeks to raise $250 per student for up to 100 students in the next school year.  The funds will pay for tuition, books, uniforms and school supplies.  The purpose of STEP scholarships is to provide an education for 100 children who otherwise could not afford to attend school.  This project will be managed by Patti Long, missionary to Tijuana.  It is anticipated that this project will make it possible for dozens of children to learn, grow and thrive so they can break the cycle of poverty.
