Training Missionaries in India

This project seeks to raise $ 5,000 every year for the training of dozens of missionaries within and outside of India.

Immediate Need: $250 to train 3 missionaries

About this Mission Project

India is diverse in culture and tradition. There are many young people in the Baptist Churches of Northeast India who are interested in being missionaries. Many have been sent both within and outside India, but have little impact because they are not prepared for cross-cultural mission work. This results in opposition to the Gospel and persecution of the missionaries.

While many churches in India are interested in sponsoring missionaries, missionary training isn’t available. The Council of Baptist Churches of Northeast India (CBCNEI) seeks to train missionaries in a “Holistic Approach to Mission.” This will give them basic skills in development and how to incorporate that approach into mission and evangelism. The training will help missionaries be accepted into diverse cultures and thus able to share the Gospel more effectively.

Mission Project Specifics

This project seeks to raise $ 5,000 every year for the training of dozens of missionaries within and outside of India. The purpose of this project is to provide them with cross-cultural training that will make them more effective witnesses of the Gospel and better able to nurture new believers. This project will be managed by Rev. Dr. Jolly Rimai and the Mission Board of the Council of Baptist Churches in North East India (CBCNEI). It is anticipated that the project will result in more people accepting Christ as their personal Lord and Savior, and an increase in the number of churches.

Missionaries trained in the Holistic Approach to Mission are called “Community Development Workers” or CDWs. This title avoids opposition and persecution as the work in diverse cultures. The CDW’s are shown here praying with General Secretary of CBCNEI as they finish two weeks of training.
