Dear friends,
It's been a week since I got home from my trip to Maine. I spent ten days there and was able to see a good part of the state. The landscapes and ocean views were some of the most beautiful that I've seen anywhere. I love water, and it seemed like every time we turned a corner there was another lake. It was good for my soul !
However, I wasn't there to sight see. I had the privilege of visiting Maine in order to share about our work in the Democratic Republic of Congo. I had the opportunity to visit nine different venues. I spoke at two American Baptist Women's rallies, at several church services and many potlucks. I even got to participate in a children's Vacation Bible School and in a couple of Sunday School classes. I love kids and that was a special treat for me. It's awesome to see children getting excited about what God is doing in the world and to realize that they are called to be a part of it.
As much as I loved the landscape of Maine, the real treasure that I found there were the people. Everywhere I went folks went out of their way, not only to make sure that I was comfortable, but also to find out how they could help with our work in Congo. I was inspired that these folks, who already have their own commitments and ministries in Maine, are also willing to make sacrifices to ensure that God's work in the Congo continues.
I want to say a special thanks to Mary Jane Sullivan who made all the arrangements for my trip, as well as to all the other gracious folks who went out of their way to drive me around, share meals with me and made sure that I had a warm and comfortable place to sleep each night.
I'd also like to thank all of you who have chosen to support us financially and in prayer. Right now, we are at 35% of our fund raising goal and several people have promised to support us either monthly or with the matching gift fund. Please pray and see if God would have you join our support group.
May God richly bless you all !
Yours in Christ,
Jill Lowery
