Local Special Ed Kids Help with IM Mailings

Greetings,

We're always looking for ways to be good stewards of IM resources and reduce our expenses.  One connection Jill Mussel, our AA and project manager, just initiated is not only saving us money, but helping our local community and children.

Jill is experimenting with the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit to give the local special education children some job experience by stamping and stuffing IM envelopes for our mailings to donors and churches.

The director of the program, Maureen Morrell told us that this is the kind of work that the kids are really good at and makes for great vocational training experiences for them.  I have spoken with one of our new workers who tells me that he loves stamping and enjoys going to work.

I must add that the tasks are performed for IM at no charge and Ms. Morrell picks up and drops off the projects - so it's very convenient.  The children receive job coaching and we have experienced few errors.

The experience is good all around.  I hope to receive some photos that I will post soon.

Blessings to you today, Catherine
