Blessings from our almighty God.
We want to share with you a request for volunteer groups this summer. This opportunity is for American Baptist Churches that want to be involved in supporting the Baptist work in Spain. They need a group of 8 to 12 young adults, (age of 18 to 30 years) for creative outreaches with mime, balloons or music. They call this mission "MISSION VERANO" (summer mission). A MISSION VERANO campaign is about one week and the main purpose is to reach cities where there is no Baptist presence yet for starting home cell groups and churches.
MISION VERANO took place in two different cities in Spain last year. In one city, 31 persons received the gospel and from those 9 started to attend the church. Now this new church has around 23 members. In the other city, the MISSION VERANO group gave 500 Jesus film videos. They asked the people who received the video to respond with their address. From the 500 persons who received the video, 200 have been visited and 114 expressed interest in more visits and opened their home for further conversations.
The evangelism and mission director from the Spanish Baptist Union had expressed that this is an unprecedented moment of openness and that it is time to invest in the Kingdom of God.
This year they are planning to have an evangelistic presence in 4 cities. Three cities are going to have a MISSION VERANO outreach and one for first time a MISION OTOÑO (fall mission).
If you or your youth-group is interested in short term mission in Spain, here are the opportunities:
MISION VERANO Oviedo from July 8 to 14
MISION VERANO Isla Lanzarote from August 2 to 10
MISION OTOÑO Madrid October 21 to 27
Each youth group should have one person in charge and at least 2 persons among the group who speak Spanish for translation. Please keep these campaigns in your prayers. If you need further information, please contact us at Kalkman@ibts.cz
God Bless you,
Nora and Pieter Kalkman
