Dear friends,

The past month has been a roller coaster of highs and lows. We've had the the thrill of another rescue, deliverance, and a new website launched. In the same month we have faced the challenges of trying to get the victim repatriated safely, seeking justice, and daily struggles of women discouraged as they face the consequences of poor decisions. Life at NightLight is never dull; it is always an adventure full of twists and turns. Thank you for coming along on the journey with us, lifting us up in prayer and faithfully supporting us.

NightLight News

Rescue: Another woman trafficked from Central Asia has been rescued!

Business Loan - a New Beginning: One of the African women who was rescued and sent home in June has now opened a hardware business thanks to a small business loan provided by a partnering organization.

Babies, Babies, Babies: We have had three beautiful babies born to NightLight's women over the summer. One mother has already been able to return to work as her baby is cared for in the childcare center.

Matching Funds for Next 30 Days: $50,000 is being offered as a matching grant for the remodeling of the buildings. A generous donor has made this possible so that a team can come and begin the work in early November. Contributions written to HSRM and designated for "NightLight Buildings" send to:

   Lois Jean Kinney
   1923 Crestwood Lane
   Muskegon, MI 49441-4507 USA.

Every donation made towards the remodeling in the next 30 days will be matched up to $50,000!

NightLight Atlanta is official!  Courtney Furlong volunteered with NightLight Bangkok from 2005 to 2006.  After completing her graduate studies in the U.S., she partnered with Grace Fellowship Church in 2008 to provide services to individuals exploited in the sex industry in her hometown of Atlanta.  We are excited to partner with the efforts of her and her team and bring this ministry under NightLight's umbrella.  Stay tuned to hear about the great work that God is doing in Atlanta!

New Website: Check out our new website www.nightlightinternational.com. Our gratitude goes to Plain Joe and to Charity and her team for their hard work and dedication in design. It has been a lot of work, and a lot of communicating back and forth with Bangkok to convey the united vision and mission. We think it is beautiful and informative. The store has been designed to make jewelry orders more user-friendly. We welcome your feedback.

Saying Goodbye For Now:  We are grateful for Lyndsey, who volunteered for 8 months assisting with English office work, prayer ministry, and outreach. Lyndsey left for Bethel Ministry School but plans to continue in advocacy for NightLight and women who are exploited in the sex industry.

Thanks also to Aaron, Angela, Trudy, and Sarah who gave their summer breaks to come alongside of us. We appreciate the work of volunteers who assist us in English office work, outreach, prayer, and showing love to the women through their presence. Pray for these young people as they continue to advocate and follow God's leading for further involvement.

Prayer Concerns:

"N-t": Pray for "N-t" who has returned again to Nightlight. She really struggles to stay off the streets and to break the addiction cycles.

Women of NightLight: Pray for the women at NightLight. It seems that many are struggling to stay on track. As the economy worsens, the demands on them increase and the offer of men to provide support is an easy trap. Pray that they will have courage to keep going and to resist what looks like a quick fix but ends up being destructive. Pray specifically for "P-k," "K-t," and "L-y".

Trafficked Victim's Safety: Pray for the woman who was trafficked and her re-entry process. Pray for her family's safety.

Justice: A trafficker who was arrested is now out on bail. Pray for justice and for protection of all those involved. Pray for the police to have wisdom and perseverance in seeking justice.

African Streetwalker: Pray for "Cammy" a streetwalker from Africa. A fire the other night shook her up and made her consider the frailty of life. She says she is tired and needs to change but determined to make enough money for a good business start-up.

Baby Deliveries: One of our staff is due to deliver her baby in September. She has struggled with high blood pressure but is praying to carry her baby to full term. "A" is also nearing her due date, so keep her in prayer as well.

Battle for Integrity: We are still trying to negotiate with the landlady of one the buildings we rent. She refuses to make a legal contract and is trying to extort back taxes of three years.

Financial Struggles of Women: Many of the women are struggling with money management as the cost of living rises. Pray that they will learn to draw healthy boundaries with friends and families who pressure them for financial support. Gambling rings and illegal loan sharks are always right around the corner and it is hard for the women to resist the temptation for fast money.

Jewelry Market: Continue to pray for increase of the jewelry market. The more jewelry we sell, the more work and resources we have to keep the women employed.

New E-mail:   With the new website we have new e-mail addresses. Please add these to your address list as safe addresses so you don't miss any of our news!
