And He will give you all you need from day to day if you live for Him and make the Kingdom of God your primary concern.

- Matthew 6:33 -

The first mission trip to the Dominican Republic from First Baptist Church in Wallingford, CT began in 1990.  On June 26th, the 2009 team headed by John Powers went on a mission trip to La Romana.  FBC Wallingford was joined by 15 other churches to send this large team.  There were 78 people in the team including more than 45 high school and college students.  The oldest volunteer is 86 years old and has been going on the mission trips for the last 19 years!

The team was involved in evangelism as well as improving conditions in bateys and barrios and underserved Haitians through medical teams, teaching teams, and construction teams.  The teams provided clean water by installing bio-sand water filters in homes and a medical professional saw over 600 people in clinics.  The teams and the people there worked hand in hand in the construction of a school, a hospital and a home in a remote village.

Daily optional prayer time for the whole group in the morning drew an ever larger group of participants each day. Team members returned home blessed by powerful spiritual experiences from the prayer time, from sharing the Good News and from working hard to improve the quality of life for the disadvantaged.

This mission to Dominican Republic will continue in the years ahead.  As the team completes the mission trip, plans for the next trip in 2010 was already underway.
