5 Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus, 6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as something to be exploited, 7 but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, being born in human likeness.
Entering fully into the reality of others instead of insisting on our own way, our own privileges, our own rights…that is how we can restore harmony in our own community. It is also the way we live out the mission of Jesus Christ today. As we walk in others’ shoes, we get surprised with blessings like learning about dramatically different ways of seeing our world, to appreciate the realities others face and, by the grace of God, we catch a fresh glimpse of the gospel.
