Earthquake Damage Repair
Team Repairing Earthquake Damage
In August, Billy Wasson, led an eight person team on a mission trip to a city in El Salvador for ten days to help Community Christian Baptist Church of Zacateculuca (their sister church), repair a stucco wall damaged in a 2008 earthquake. He was truly amazed at the outreach of the church to the rural surrounding. He feels that his church and the sister church in Zacateculuca continue to grow together in Christian walk.
Staying there was quite challenging due to the sickness brought on by the unfamiliar heat, humidity, and drinking water. Most of the team got physically sick probably due to the water. In spite of the physical discomfort and illness, the inspiration received from seeing this poor church continue to give and to reach out to others has powerfully effected their lives and once they got home, they began a fund drive for a vehicle for the sister church. They also are strongly motivated to host some members of the sister church in Oregon next year.
Billy was most encouraged by the presence of Kim Kushner, a new missionary from International Ministries, for a whole week and he thinks she is a gift from God.
