Special Miller Moments 2006

Happy holidays from our family to yours!

We‘ve had a very special 2006.Flint and Deb have continued to enjoy teaching and ministering at the seminary. They thank God for the opportunity to shape young leaders from across Asia.Ben and Chris have done well in school, and were excited to be part of new youth group made up of MK's (Missionary Kids) from around Baguio. We have all been blessed with good health, although Flint and Deb plan to start their big diet in January.Ben continues to be an awesome writer, with an awesome short story, "A Night on the Chattahoochee" ready for publication.Chris keeps us on the edge of our seats with his new-found love of Chris with Award.skateboarding!

Chris did real good as he won the "Take Another Bow Award" at Brent for his performance as Fagan in the Musical Oliver.

What's Shakin', Bacon?

For those who need an interpreter, "What's Shakin Bacon?" is teenage language for "How are you?"We are definitely in a new phase of life with teenagers.Ben turned 15 on Dec. 18 and is now as tall as dad. (Ben would say taller.) Chris is 12 and middle schooler now.Ben's highlight was Sondays camp with his Youth Group from First Baptist, Woodway. They provided a scholarship for the week – thanks! Chris also enjoyed Bethany Hills camp in Tennessee with his cousin Katie.Ben has been serving on the Student Council at Brent and playing basketball.Chris is the president of his class and the "go-to guy" in terms of acting and public speaking.Along with the rest of the teen-age world, they spend their free time texing, IMing Ben and Chris the first day of school in August.(instant messaging), maintaining their "My Space" and Friendster, and listening to cool tunes.

Quote of the Year: "I'll get my haircut next week" (repeated by Ben and Chris weekly)

Gwapo! That's how we describe our handsome boys! This is Ben and Chris on the first day of school in August.

"With God all things are possible." Mark 10:27

Flint kids Deb that she's the "Chaplain of Baguio".From March to May, Deb supervised 12 CPE students - the largest group of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) students ever at the seminary. They served as student chaplains at Benguet General Hospital. They were so effective, the hospital staff didn't want them to leave!Deb also continued to have a seminary wives Bible Study prayer group on a bi-weekly basis as well as lead a Mom's in Touch prayer group at Brent every Tuesday morning. Besides teaching counseling courses she often did individual counseling to both those inside and outside the seminary. Her Marriage and Family Class was the largest in seminary history – 74 students.

Flint continued as branch director and Associate Dean of the Asia Baptist Graduate Theological Seminary. He loves teaching missions in both PBTS and ABGTS.He continues to have many opportunities to preach in local churches and other settings.Flint and Deb have also continued to enjoy leading Marriage Enrichment Retreats together.Oh yes – and they celebrated their 20th wedding Deb's birthday.anniversary on Dec. 20 – 20 years on the 20th.

A family tradition at our house is to pile in bed on somebody's birthday (including Sparky, of course!).This shot is from Deb's birthday on August 23.

Dad's favorite Christmas joke:

The kindergarten teacher asked little Johnny who the fat guy was beside Mary and Joseph in his drawing of the manger scene.Johnny replied, "Oh, that's Round John Virgin." "Who?" asked the teacher, "You know, ‘Round John Virgin, Mother and Child" sang Johnny to the tune of Silent Night.

God will make a way when there seems to be no way.
