Dear friends,

Greetings from Costa Rica. I'm sorry to have not written for a while. I've been quite ill.

I must share with you a letter that Ediciones Lumbrera, the publishing ministry where I serve, recently received from a church leader. It was tremendously encouraging to us.

For many years I have been involved with the Christian Education program at First Baptist Church in Desamparados. I have worked as Sunday School Director and, on several occasions as a teacher, for the past 20 years. The Sunday school is a vital part of the ministry of our church, because in it, our members not only learn about the Word of God, but also have the opportunity to develop spiritually and to use the gifts that God has given them.

Our objective in Sunday school is that the participants, through the development of the lessons:

-improve their biblical knowledge

- establish and develop friendships

-reach their family and friends for Christ

-prepare themselves to serve the Lord.

Ever since the Baptist Federation of Costa Rica, through Ediciones Lumbrera, began their publications, our church has used that teaching material with great satisfaction, because it adjusts very well to our objectives. We have used all the books published, and through the years we feel that the material has been a great help. Some of the advantages that we value in the material are the following:

• It is excellent for small group work.
• The participatory method that it promotes, permits the students to acquire abilities to speak in public and to develop confidence to express their opinions. This has been a great accomplishment in our church.
• The material presents various options of activities for the teacher.
• The material is easy to understand, which is a great help for the brothers and sisters who are teachers but don't have a professional teaching background.
• The themes that are developed are rooted in life. Through the biblical teaching the students are motivated to put into practice what they have learned.

We thank the Baptist Federation for the effort it has made to provide the churches with this valuable material.

Estimados hermanos y hermanas en Cristo.

Saludos desde Costa Rica. Quiero compartir con ustedes una carta que recibimos referente al ministerio editorial que llevamos a cabo en Ediciones Lumbrera. Fue de gran bendicion para nosotros.

Durante muchos años he estado relacionada con el programa de educacion cristiana de la I Iglesia Bautista en Desamparados. He trabajado como directora de Escuela Dominical, yen algunas ocasiones como maestra, esto desde hace más de 20 años.

La EscuelaDominical es parte vital del quehacer de nuestra iglesia, porque en ella nuestros miembros no solamente aprenden de la Palabra de Dios, sino que también tienen oportunidad de desarrollarse espiritualmente y poner en uso los dones que Dios les da.

Nuestro objetivo de Escuela Dominical es que los participantes, a través del desarrollo de las lecciones,:

-mejoren su conocimiento bíblico

-establezcan y desarrollenrelaciones de amistad

-alcancen a sus familiares y amigos para Cristo

-Se preparen para servir al Señor.

Desde que la FederacionBautistade Costa Rica, a través de Ediciones Lumbrera, inicio sus publicaciones, nuestra iglesia acogio con mucho agrado ese material de enseñanza, pues se ajusta muy bien a nuestros objetivos. Hemos utilizados todos los libros publicados, y a través de los años sentimos que el material ha sido un gran apoyo.

Algunas de las ventajas que apreciamos del material son las siguientes.

-Es excelente para el trabajo en grupos pequeños.

-El método participativo que promueve, permite a los alumnos adquirir destrezas para hablar en público y sentir confianza al expresar sus opiniones. Este ha sido un gran logro en nuestra iglesia.

-El material presenta varias opciones de trabajo para el maestro.

-El material es de fácil comprension, lo cual es una gran ayuda para los hermanos que son maestros pero que no tienen una formacion pedagogica profesional.

-Los temas que se desarrollan son muy vivenciales. A partir de la enseñanza bíblicalos estudiantes se ven motivados a poner en práctica lo aprendido.

Agradecemos a la Federacion Bautista el esfuerzo que hace para poner a disposicion de las iglesias tan valioso material.
