2006 World Mission Offering Challenge
- To bring the Gospel to the unreached.
- To bring food and clean water to families for the first time.
- To care for and comfort those suffering and dying from AIDS.
- To build classrooms for eager pastoral students.
- To create safe homes and rescue those enslaved by human trafficking.
- To save just one more life.
- To bring just one more to God.
- To raise just one more church.
- To heal just one more community.
The World Mission Offering is the single largest source of financial support for the global outreach God accomplishes through International Ministries. For most churches the promotion of WMO takes place during September and October. We would like to take this opportunity to encourage you to prayerfully consider how God is leading you to support our work here in Bulgaria, and that of our colleagues around the world. Are you willing to accept the challenge of raising $3 per month for each member of your congregation? That would be $36 a year times the number of active members.
What is $3.00?;
- It's less than a gourmet coffee.
- It's less than a fast food meal.
- It's less than a tip at a restaurant.
What is $36.00?:
- It's less than most people spend on internet service each month.
- It's less than an average cell phone bill.
- It's less than a meal for two at a reasonably priced restaurant.
- It's less than a tank of gasoline.
Thirty-six dollars a year per church member would TRIPLE the amount of global ministry International Ministries could do!
THINK ABOUT IT!
BE AMAZED BY GOD!
At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. [Mark 1:9]
It is always a great joy to witness the baptism of a believer; it is especially
meaningful when the baptism takes place in a river. One can sit on the bank of a river and imagine John the Baptist preaching and Jesus making his way through the crowd to the river.
It was a beautiful day in the town of Guliantsi as Krissi, aged 14, and her mother, Natashka, were baptized in the Danube River, with 25 church members looking on.Nataska has been a single mom for many years, struggling to make a living for herself and her daughter.Krissi became interested in Christianity one year when Christmas gifts from the Baptist church were delivered to the children in her village. She has attended the youth camps
sponsored by the Baptist Union for several summers, receiving strength and encouragement in her walk.Krissi, and later her mother, began attending the church in Guliantsi regularly. Both made their public professions of faith on Easter Sunday this year, and their joint baptisms in the Danube took place on August 13.
PRAYER & PRAISE REQUESTS:
- Thank you for your prayers for little Andre. He is now home from the hospital and doing fine. The doctors determined he had febrile seizure, and his parents now know the proper steps to take at home in case it happens again.
- Praise that A.J. and Nathan had a good experience at camp in August. They'll write about it in our next newsletter!
- We are also thankful that A.J. and Nathan have had a good start to their new school year.
- Please pray for a successful 2006 World Mission Offering; that our churches will focus their prayers and their gifts toward global missions.
- Pray for Krissi and Natashka that they will continue to grow in their faith and find God's comfort in the midst of difficult circumstances.Krissi will be studying at a new school in a nearby city this year, and the daily, round-trip bus fare will really stretch their already limited budget.
- Pray for all Bulgarian children as they start back to school on September 15, especially for many who will be the only Christians in their classroom.
- Pray for Tom and Terry as they seek God's guidance in determining the paths their ministries will take during this new term.
