Making Space

When we arrived in Littleton, MA at the end of August, the FBC of Littleton welcomed us with a huge basket of fruits, vegetables, canned goods, and gift certificates.  We were overwhelmed not only by the size of the basket, but by all the love and thoughtfulness that had gone into preparing such a gift.  We truly were thankful for the community of Christian friends that were making space for us to join them on this year of U.S. assignment.

Mission Partners

But they are not the only Christian community that has made space for us in their hearts!  All of you on this email list, and many more besides, have blessed us with your prayers, your cards, your emails, your financial generosity, and some even with your presence by visiting us in Mexico.  Every day we are overwhelmed by the outpouring of blessings we receive from our partners in mission.

Amazing Grace

I Corinthians 1:4 says, “I always thank God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus.”  Grace . . . a gift given with no strings attached . . .what God gives to each of us through Jesus . . . and what we are called to give to each other.  So today, Thanksgiving 2009, we are thankful to our God, and for each of you, because of the GRACE you have spilled into our lives!  Grace that you have given freely, and—sometimes—sacrificially.  Grace given because you share with us a vision to spread God’s love to other parts of the world.

Generous Love

We also want to specifically thank you for all the financial gifts you have given on our behalf.  Many of you gave to us for the very first time during the Matched Giving Campaign this past Spring.  Your generosity allowed us to reach our Missionary Partnership Goal by the end of September 2009 so that we were able to stay on the field.  In October 2009 we embarked on our new fiscal year with a new goal.  And already, through the World Mission Offering, through targeted gifts, and through amazing Endowment gifts from several churches, we are well on our way to meet our goal for 2009-2010.  Again, we thank God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Today, as we all gather with family and friends, may we remember that we are bound together in the love of Christ.  We are so thankful for you, our family made possible through Jesus!
