Dear Friends in Christ,
I share with you, all our friends, the situation in El Salvador after hurricane Adrian. We received yesterday, May 19, the hurricane Adrian on the coast of the pacific sea by the western side. It came to the land in the night.
The government worked promptly and in advance made arrangements with all the agencies and private organizations for coordinating help in the emergency.
Around 95 places for refugees are available in the areas of highest risk. The police and other groups encouraged the people to move to the shelters, many sent the children, elders and women. The men stayed in the houses to protect their belongings against robbers or the flood. The government had three places where they had food and distributed it to the shelters.
Thanks to God that the hurricane drained its fury in the sea. When the hurricane touched the land it changed from hurricane to tropical depression.
The rain stayed over the country, the rivers and streams are full. No one died in the emergency. The people are returning safely to their houses.
I know that the Lempas River, where we have a mission, is where the dam that produces electricity to the eastern side of the country is. The gates were opened before the emergency started to avoid the flood in that area.
Please stay praying for us. The rainy season started heavy over us.
In Christ,
Rev. Dr. Magda Aguirre
Misionera El Salvador
