Rene Pierre - "Planting for the Future"
My father, 83 years old, has been an inspiration for Vital and I during the last 6 months, when he started to plant different fruit trees, like mango, orange, coconut, etc. in the 3.25 acres of land that the First Spanish-Speaking Baptist Church "Bethel" in Bluefields purchased in December 2001.
The main ministry of Bethel has been among the children with a Before and After Work-Study Program, in which we attend approximately 150 children daily, planting in their hearts the Word of God daily, helping them to do their homework from school and giving them special classes like computer, Mathematics, English and Spanish.During my father's time in Bluefields, he wanted to participate in the ministry with us and he started to plant many trees with one boy, named Jeyson of 12 years old, teaching him how to start a nursery and how to keep the maintenance of the trees when he leaves from Bluefields.
My father went back to the States and Jeyson comes every morning, before he goes to school in the afternoon, to take care of the plants that my father and him have planted. It looks like a great responsibility for a boy of that age, but Jeyson was a very irresponsible boy at home and at school.Since he started to work with my father, his grades in school have changed tremendously because someone has trusted in him and has given him a responsibility for the future, which he has confidently taken because he feels that he belongs there and he is being loved.
Jeyson will eat from the fruit of his labor alongside with his generation, while my father will not eat it; but he will be rejoicing from far the product of his work in Bluefields.
So, keep planting your seed-your offering-for the World Mission Offering. You may not see the fruit of your seed, but you may hear the benefit of your seed from distance land and your heart will be filled with joy, just like my father. But, if you can come and see the product of your seed, come and join us so we may glorify His name for His mighty work among His children in this part of the world.
