God Commands Us to be Fishers of Men

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ:

May the peace of the Lord be with you.It is with great joy anytime that we think of you.We are excited to share of God's work in our midst.

During Holy Week, we experienced a great sense of unity, humility and love among us, which helped us to accomplish the work of casting our nets for His glory. The following testimony is from Cara Keisling of First Baptist Church in Riverside, California.

"About 5 years ago I learned about this crazy pastor guy who built a pool on church property. The pool is how I first came to know about Bethel Baptist Church in Bluefields Nicaragua.A pool at a church is so nontraditional that it had to be a God thing. Then I learned that God, through the vision given to Vital Pierre, intended the pool be used as a net to catch and bring in souls to evangelize.

Spending Holy Week in Bluefields I saw a church throw out its nets everyday and trust God for the catch.I thought many times of the fishermen of Bible times who pulled in mass amounts of fish with God's blessing.Bethel is Pool evangelism.truly a church of fishermen.God commands us to be fishers of men and that is what I witnessed hour by hour.Fishermen are known for their fish tales and there was a moment each day of Holy Week that I felt as if I was living in some exaggerated fish tale.Family after family flooded through the church gates hour after hour day after day until there was standing room only. Not just standing room only for swimming, socializing and picnicking, but standing room only for fellowship, testimonies, singing, evangelism, puppet shows and movies like "The Cross and the Switchblade."Like many fisherman I do not tire of telling my "Bethel Fish Tale."

Twice a day the activities at Bethel shifted to specifically involve singing and the sharing of testimonies. All day long songs with Christian lyrics blasted from the radio pronouncing a risen Lord, faith, the love of God, grace, forgiveness and so much more.Counting the people and the times that the gospel message was shared, I actually tried to determine the number of lives that could potentially have been impacted for the cause of Christ.Naturally this was impossible as it is the Lord that privately touches the hearts of those he calls to himself. But I am thrilled that Bethel did not forsake the giving out of the gospel. One particular song played over and over throughout the week that I was able to recognize in English said, "Thank you for giving to the Lord.I am a life that was saved."I am certain there are many who would have cause to sing such words after partaking of the ministry at Bethel during Holy Week.May we all be found as faithful."

Thank you so much for allowing us to be in Bluefields so we may continue to cast our nets for His glory.

In Christ,

Vital and Ketly
