An 8.8 earthquake has struck Chile around 3:30 am their time.  IM missionaries, Barbara and Dwight Bolick are in the U.S. and are scheduled to return to Chile on Tuesday, March 2.

IM has attempted to contact Patty Cofre Sanchez, former Xtreme Team member, currently a leader at the Instituto Teologico Bautista de la Mision Chilena (Baptist Theological Institute) in Chillan, Chile. We are waiting a response from her. Danica Roki, one of our leadership development grant recipients at Palmer Seminary, has been in contact with IM and she is safe.

IM has contacted Mario Ramos, President of the Convención de Iglesias Bautistas de la Misión Chilena, which is our partner convention in Chile and are awaiting a reply.

A tsunami has been triggered as a result of this earthquake and is making its way towards Hawaii, Costa Rica, and Philippines.

Yesterday, an earthquake hit off the coast of Okinawa.  IM has been in contact with Leslie and David Turley and they are fine.  They had a lot of shaking but no damage.

Join us in prayer for the victims, our Christian partners and the leadership of these countries as the face the consequences of these natural disasters.
