Dear friends, family, and colleagues,
Thank you so much for all your specific prayers on our behalf the last several days. We drove from Phoenix to Nogales on Friday and crossed the border into Mexico. Had no problems with obtaining our visas, car permit and other fees. Didn't quite make it to Obregon that night but God led us to a clean, safe hotel where we were able to get a room with 3 beds (Ian and Aaron were so relieved!) and it was the least expensive hotel of our entire trip! On Saturday we got to Todolobompo where the ferry departs, only to discover that the entire schedule was off due to the hurricane the week before. Offices were closed, people were standing around, and we had trouble getting information. But finally found out that Saturday's ferry had already left and tickets for Sunday's ferry would go on sale later that evening. So we found another hotel to spend the night, and returned in the evening to buy tickets, get our car permit for the ferry, and were also able to reserve a cabin. God is good!
The adventure continued as they told us the ferry was to leave at 6am the next day. So we got up at 4am to be at the ferry by 4:30 for loading. Sat in the truck for over an hour and finally found out that the ferry wasn't even arriving until 8am. Wasn't unloaded until 10am, and then they began loading all the semis and cars and passengers for the return trip after that. The ferry finally left at noon. Whew! We arrived in La Paz at 6pm and were home by 7:30pm Sunday night.
We'll write more later but it is so good to be home and we definitely felt your prayers under girding us every step of the way!
David, Joyce, Ian and Aaron
