Dear Friends,

Hello! With the start of this New Year, I look forward to returning to Thailand soon. My flight is scheduled to leave L.A. on Feb 27th. I am feeling both excited and overwhelmed with all there is to do between now and then...vaccinations, travel visas, shipping of freight, medical clearance, storing the stuff in my apartment, selling the car, and a mountain of various reports that are already overdue. As I look back, this has been quite a remarkable year. How could I summarize all that I have seen and experienced? I think what stands out to me most is the overwhelming love of Christ I have experienced through communities of faith around the U.S. Many people have kindly welcomed me into their homes. Others have generously put me up in local hotels. People have provided meals, transportation, prayer support and fellowship. There have been many people who have given to support this ministry, and even more who have committed to give. It truly is an amazing thing to see the body of Christ at work. Thank you so much for your friendship and generosity.

At the end of December, I attended the Urbana, 2006 Conference. This year, the InterVarsity student missions conference was moved from Urbana, IL to St. Louis, MO to accommodate the more than 22,000 students who attended. I went to an Urbana Conference when I was in college, and found it to be a deeply formative experience. This time was no less exciting. I was part of a team which represented International Ministries at a booth in the exhibit hall. We met all kinds of interesting people. It was also very exciting to hear Sharon Cohn from International Justice Mission. She spoke in an evening plenary session, and talked about a girl she called "Elizabeth", who was a victim of human trafficking. IJM was instrumental in working with the police to get this little one rescued from a brothel in northern Thailand. What Cohn does not mention is that IJM then referred "Elizabeth" to the New Life Center for her after-care. We provided care for her until she could be returned to her home country. We continue to follow up with her and the exciting things she is doing. She's a remarkable young woman. This is just one example of the ways that the New Life Center collaborates with other organizations in Thailand to minister to those in need. To hear Cohn's powerful 13-minute message, you can access it on Urbana's webcast at: http://www.urbana.org/u2006.webcast.cfm Click on "Dec 29th evening". Then click on "Testimony: International Justice Mission: Sharon Cohn" It is available in both and audio and video format.

In other press, there was a recent article that told the story of another former resident from the New Life Center. You can find it in the January, 2007 edition of Christianity Today, pages 28-37. After "Moon" was rescued, she was brought to the New Life Center and we provided her after-care. Mark and Christa Crawford, who are mentioned in the article, are dear friends of ours who provided "Moon" with vocational training and continued to follow up with her after she was ready to be released from the New Life Center. Although the New Life Center is not specifically mentioned in the article, this is one more example of how Christians in Thailand are cooperating for the Kingdom.

I have received a wonderful answer to prayer in the last month. I have been looking for someone who can help to distribute New Life Center handicrafts through facilitating sales on "E-bay". God has raised up "Doug" for this ministry. Doug is the owner and manager of a local Pack, Ship and Sell company on Kenwood Rd. in Blue Ash, Ohio. He offered to sell our New Life Center crafts on E-bay at no profit to himself! He has all kinds of experience in e-retail. Watching him work with customers is better than an episode of "Antiques Roadshow" as he assesses the value of items to be sold on E-Bay! Praise God for this answer to prayer and for Doug's servant heart.

Some of you may be aware of the new Missionary Partnership Teams. Each missionary is working on putting together a team of people to help support their work. My team will be meeting Feb. 23-25 in Los Angeles for their first training orientation. I have had a bit of a setback with 3 people dropping out of the team at the last minute, and one other person who is out of the country for the next few months. But I know that this work is in God's hands. And I trust that He will draw together the people He has called to this special ministry. Please keep the team in prayer as they attend their orientation. And pray that God will gather together just the right group.

For those who like to surf the web, the New Life Center now has a new website. It has new pictures, and lots of updated information. Check it out at: www.newlifecenterfoundation.org

Thank you so much for your friendship, prayers, and financial support. And may God bless you throughout 2007.
