Dear Friends in Christ,
I can’t believe that it’s March already! I want to share how God has been working.
You were praying for our mid-January our Editorial Group meetings and some big decisions that needed to be made. The Team leaders concluded that from now on we will be working as smaller teams, with an annual retreat for the whole group. We believe it will be more effective and save on expenses. In addition, God answered our prayers and we named a group coordinator, Milca Ruiz, who will make sure that all the groups are working in the same direction. I will therefore be doing more with final revisions (and less writing) and working with the publishers.
Speaking of publishers, this has been one of our major problems in the past. Again, thank you for your prayers, but keep praying! After more than a year’s delay, we have lessons printed for all age levels except adults–the adult level is halfway done. We also decided to write lessons for special days, such as Palm Sunday, Easter, Christmas, etc. which normally were not included in our undated materials. Even if I have to say so myself, the lessons turned out well and one level has just come off the press. We’ve sold about 100 books in four days! We are having better success with a local publisher, which is certainly a big praise for me!
Our adult writing team was the most affected by this structural change in strategy, leaving us with only two writers. But God led Raquel to form a new team from her region. All have received Lay Bible institute or seminary training. We are happy to report that ALL lesson assignments were turned in ON TIME (this is a miracle in and of itself), and the new writers (untrained as yet!) wrote more than they were asked to do. Raquel is very pleased with their work so far; at month’s end they have a meeting to do some training and editing as a group.
The seminary celebrates a graduation on Wednesday, March 7, of a group of 19 older lay pastors who were given a special program of courses in order to complete their studies already received at the lay Bible institutes. Many of these are persons having over 10 years of service, but without official recognition. Finally they will be considered pastors, which is what they are. I’ve already heard great things about the one who was sent to the village where Ramon's family once lived.
This month’s been Christmas, Katy´s birthday and wedding anniversary time, as we received our mail from the States. Thank you for writing, we appreciate hearing from you! And know that I haven’t had time to respond yet.
We thank God for all that He is doing here, but we also thank God for you! Your financial and prayer support make it possible for us to serve the Lord here.
