The Long Family
Tim and
Patti minister in leadership training by the Baja Baptist Convention, Dios Con
Nosotros (God With Us). They help in the acculturation process of the many
people who relocate to the Baja Peninsula of Mexico from other areas in Mexico.
They share the following:
- Pray for the churches in the Mexicali Valley as they continue to minister to Easter Sunday earthquake victims. With funds and donations from World Relief and local Mexican Baptist Churches, over 200 families who lost homes and work due to the earthquake will continue to receive basic foods, at least through the summer months. Assessments also being made for some monetary help with reconstruction or fortification of homes and churches damaged by the quake.
- Pray for Jacob, Israel, José Carlos and David, 2010 graduates of the Mexicali Seminary. All four are pastoring now in local Baja congregations.
- Praise: new dorm and apartment building will be ready for the beginning of classes in Sept. after three years in construction. Most all of the labor was done by Mexican workers, with monetary assistance and some labor provided through partner churches and mission groups from the States.
- Praise for our beautiful family, now with 2 grandchildren and the joy we have at having all four kids, spouses and 2 grandbabies living in southern California (at least for now).
- Prayer for the opening of the new school year at Centro Pedagogico Didaque where I teach. That many more individuals and churches will feel moved to sponsor children at the school with STEP scholarships so that all children who need to be at the school will receive the help they need to be able to attend. Also, praise for all the faithful STEP sponsors who have supported this ministry in the past.
- Prayer for permits from the government will finally come through to allow the school to start construction of a badly needed new building. We have been buying permits for over 2 years, and are told each time that yet another permit is required.
