April is the hottest time of the year in Thailand, and school is out of session the whole month for “summer vacationâ€. A favorite activity for this time of year is attending Bible camp. The Health Project and Community-Based Rehabilitation Project (CBRP) staff will both be holding camps. As well, children from CBRP and the House of Love will be attending camps led by the churches they attend. We are grateful for these opportunities to serve and to learn, and would appreciate your prayers for safety for all concerned, as well as for lessons to be understood at a deep level. Here are some other praise and prayer items.
Praise Points
* March has been a busy month for me—I was in China for 11 days and Cambodia for 5, plus several days in Mae Sariang and another few days in Bangkok. I praise God for good connections and safety in all my travels. Thank you for praying for my trips. In China, 2 seminars were held for Bible school students, and they were well-received. We were also able to share in two worship services. We continued to strengthen relationships that have been forged on other trips—I am much encouraged by the continued teaching that seminar participants from past visits are involved in. In Cambodia, staff from the Community-based Rehabilitation program met with a similar project based in Phnom Penh. It was good to build this network. We found some similarities in our projects, as well as, some ways we would like to adapt activities they are doing to work in Mae Sariang. All in all, I felt it was time well spent.
* Health Project staff has spent the past month doing follow-up visits with tribal youth who had been released from the detention center. We praise God that all are currently working or studying.
* Semester grades are in at the House of Love—and I think it is the best reporting period for all of the children ever. Praise God that each could finish the school year on a high note!
* We are grateful that both the House of Love and the House of Blessing Daycare can be involved with international students from one of the local schools. All involved benefit from the relationships made—it is a joy to see! A few highlights from the past month include a swim party, trip to the zoo, and an Easter celebration.
Prayer Points:
* I would appreciate your prayers as I travel back to Florida for a short period this month. A former missionary and dear friend of mine is very ill, and has asked for me to return. This will also give me the opportunity to visit my mother, who is also in poor health, as well as celebrate Easter with my family.
* Things are moving rather slowly with our draftsmen for the House of Love. Please remember to keep this whole process in your prayers. Also keep praying for the remaining funds to come in—we are encouraged by so many gifts already!
* We have a new website for you to see! Susan Peer of my ministry partnership team in the US has worked on one—we hope it communicates well with you! Check it out at http://www.thaitribalhealthservices.info
