Praise Points
* I am glad to be back in Chiang Mai after a short visit to the USA. I am glad I could have time with a good friend and my mother, both who are in poor health.
* The first week of May is the Asian Baptist Conference in Chiang Mai, with over 1500 delegates attending. Two of our nurses will be presenting talks on how to mobilize the church using real experiences to encourage others in their Christian service. Khun Saylo will talk about mobilizing the church in the area of disabilities, and Pi Noon will talk about the Health Project’s experiences in the area of AIDS. We are thankful for the opportunity to share about the good work that tribal Christians are doing in northern Thailand.
* April has been hot, but still fun for the House of Love children as they enjoyed the time off of school. Everyone has enjoyed at least one camp, and did lots of fun activities like fishing, swimming, pottery making, and farming (well, it is fun in a group!) Some of the girls are learning sign language (you may remember that Oy, one of the teens at the HOL, is deaf). As well, a few of the children were able to visit relatives.
* And another praise—the HOL children are enjoying a 2-day Vacation Bible school program put on by visitors from churches in West Virginia. It is always fun to cap off the summer with a fun event!!
* Baptism is always a time of thanksgiving—and especially for us as eight of the HOL girls made the decision to take this public confession of faith during a church camp. After attending a class on the importance of this decision, and when the house parents felt that each girl understood what baptism meant, the group was ready for the church ceremony on April 22—what a momentous day!
Prayer Points:
* Please pray that house plans are approved by the local government so that we can begin building!
* With school restarting this month, please join in prayer for everyone at the House of Love—imagine getting 28 children ready with new uniforms and school supplies!
* The Daycare is also ready to start a new year. This past week, the teachers had very good meeting with the parents. Please pray for all of the staff as the head teacher will be taking a 2 month maternity leave.
* The Ahka, Lisu and Sgaw Karen health teams will be holding a 2 day seminar on medications and other issues for clients who are HIV-infected. Please pray for good communication of some very complicated material.
* The CBRP is starting a trial program to have a hostel for children who are disabled and want to attend the school prep program. Pray for the adjustment of the new children to different routines in a difference environment.
