Ever wished you could visit a country in Africa?  This is your opportunity to visit Ghana!  International Ministries (IM) is sponsoring a Heritage Mission Adventure in Ghana on May 19 – June 2, 2011.  The adventure begins as soon as you land in the capital city of Accra!

Rev. Charles Jones, area director for Africa for IM, who lead the first trip to Ghana in 2004, will be your delightful leader in 2011.  The main activities of the trip will include visiting historical and cultural sites in Ghana, especially those of significance to the history of African Americans like the river in Assin Manso where slaves were bathed before being taken to the Cape Coast Castle.

Participants will be able to visit the ministries and project sites of the Ghana Baptist Convention (GBC), including a seminary.  You’ll have great fellowship with Ghanaian believers, hear local preachers and there will be opportunities for you to interact with GBC leaders at the national, regional and association levels. This trip will help strengthen ties and open doors between the GBC and American Baptist Churches.

Plan now to visit this tropical destination as you consider God’s mission and call in light of faith ties and interests in Ghana/West Africa. In addition to Accra, you'll visit Frankadua, Tamale, Kumasi and the Cape Coast. There will be opportunities for shopping, a walk in the canopy of the Kakum National Park, sampling the local foods,  and a few uniquely Ghanaian cross-cultural experiences!

What will you need?  A valid passport and a visa is required for US citizens to enter Ghana.  Be sure to apply for your visa as soon as you have your travel itinerary and passport.  Participants are urged to check with your physician about malaria prevention and to be sure your immunizations are current, including one for Yellow Fever.

Cost of the trip is $3,500 which includes round trip airfare from New York City to Ghana.  Domestic travel to New York City is not included.  You’ll be provided with meals, lodging and transportation while in Ghana.  Participants also receive travel accident insurance.

Initial deposit of $200 is due with registration. A Second deposit of $1,500 due by Oct. 29th (extended from Sept. 30th).  Costs are subject to increase and fee payment schedule is available.

To register for the trip, please call 1 800 222-3872, extension 2191 or 2219.  Youth under the age of 18 must be accompanied by at least one parent or legal guardian.  A proposed itinerary for the trip is available.
