Rev. Grace Akunor, director of the Center, and Rev. Isaac Asante-Agyei.
On June 28, 2010, a group of 12 from First Baptist Church, Midland, MI left for a two-week mission trip to
Ghana in West Africa. There, in cooperation with the Ghana Baptist
Convention, they spent the largest proportion of their time working
at Frankadua Girls School. The school provides education and training
for girls who have been rescued from an illegal but still tolerated form
of female slavery known as Trokosi.
They have returned to Michigan with a passion for the girls and the ministry in Frankadua. And they are doing something about it!
The Ghana Mission Team will host a special event on November 6, 2010 at the Midland Community Center, Midland, MI. Under the banner of “Build a Kitchen, Build a Future,” the gathering at 7pm will seek support for the building of a kitchen-dining facility at the Baptist Vocational Training Center at Frankadua, Ghana. The Rev. Grace Akunor, director of the Center, will be present for the occasion. Two dormitories at this training center were funded by The American Baptist Churches of Massachusetts.
