The end of October means colorful leaves, falling temperatures and bringing in last of the harvest. Our thoughts turn toward Thanksgiving and counting our blessings. We here at International Ministries count YOU among our blessings! Faithful supporters of global mission, who do so much to keep the World Mission Offering fresh and visible in your church!
Speaking of visible – have you seen the new video posted by Global Consultant, Stan Slade? He spent two weeks at the Baptist Seminary of La Paz, Mexico in South Baja training leaders of the churches. Read his journal “Grateful in La Paz” and check out the video to see how your support of the WMO makes such training events possible! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYObfnJCjT8
For many churches, this will be the last Sunday to promote the WMO. We hope you’ve had the opportunity to show the 3:55 or 7 minute WMO video that are on the DVD in your WMO box or on our website at: http://www.internationalministries.org/drives/3.
If those are too long, consider showing one of the 5 mini-video documentaries available exclusively on our website at www.worldmissionoffering.org Scroll halfway down the page to see each of the videos. They run 1:45 to 2 minutes long and each one features a different missionary. These mini-videos are ideal for use with a youth group, in small groups and Sunday school classes. Have an international potluck supper and show 1, 2 or all 5 and then pray for the continuing relief work in Haiti.
Potluck suppers are an excellent time to introduce folks to International Ministries! In your WMO box of resources, is a “Quick Facts” sheet that gives folks the big picture. Put one at each table setting so they can see how IM is supported, and how WMO funds are allocated on Ministry Focus Areas like training church leaders. The Quick Facts sheet has our mission statement and lists the countries where we serve with missionaries or through partner projects. It even has plenty of ideas on how people in your church can get involved in mission and be transformed!
The Quick Facts sheet is one of many free WMO resources available online to download. Go to: http://www.internationalministries.org/drives/wmo_2010 If you need additional copies of things like pew envelopes or coin boxes, call 800 4JUDSON.
