"Transformation Africa" gathered 45,000 people together in March 2001, in the rugby stadium in Cape Town, South Africa. In March 2002, Christians from all denominations met together in 8 stadiums in South Africa; and in May 2003, millions of Christians in 28 countries united in
prayer. In May 2004, 22 million Christians from 58 countries invoked God's blessings on the continent, probably the greatest number of people ever praying at the same time for one subject! Lives were transformed, and miracles took place in churches, cities and villages.
This year, Africa invites Christians around the world to unite their hands in the Global Day of Prayer on Pentecost Sunday, May 15. It is estimated that around 200 million Christians will unite to ask God to bless the nations, in order that the whole earth might be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord (Hab. 2:14).
The following program is suggested to prepare for this day of prayer:
-- May 6-15: From Ascension Day to Pentecost, let's follow the example of the first disciples as they gathered in prayer (Acts 1:13-14)! The answer to their prayer came on Pentecost (Acts 2). Let's ask God for a fresh outpouring of His Spirit, for the salvation and healing of the lost. Why not open an "upper room" (literal or figurative) for a 24-hour prayer chain in your church?
-- May 15 (Pentecost Sunday): Cities, countries and continents will unite to pray in stadiums, parks, churches, etc. Several TV and radio stations and internet sites will send out information from all over the world.
-- 90 days of blessing, as believers seek ways to reach out to their neighbors after May 15, through evangelistic efforts and services in Christ's name in favor of the least fortunate.
We want to bless the nations through global prayer, which will reveal the Glory of God!
