Easter Greetings from Kimpese, D.R. Congo!

This has been a busy Easter week in Kimpese! Friday evening at the local Methodist church, and Saturday evening here at CECO, we showed a special edition of the Jesus film, featuring testimonies from Christian professional soccer players. People react enthusiastically to the miracles of Jesus, and some of the children actually cried when the crucifixion was shown. There was cheering when Jesus appeared after the resurrection!

Easter Sunday began earlier than usual at the Evangelical Center of Cooperation (CECO), with an outdoor baptism at 6:00 AM! Several high school students, members of our youth group, were baptized by our new pastor, Isaac Kambu, from the Alliance Church. It's encouraging to see that young people are choosing to follow Jesus!

Later in the morning I offered my services to the Sunday school for a demonstration of Easter eggs: coloring, hunting and eating (see attached picture)! Over 120 preschool and elementary children were there, with a dozen high school students and one student pastor assisting. I "hid" items concerning Easter inside plastic eggs, for the kids to identify: a rock, a nail, a piece of purple cloth, etc., and one was empty! I asked "What was empty on that first Easter day" And the kids replied immediately, "The tomb!"

So, rejoice with us on this Easter day! The tomb is empty!

With love to all of you,

Wendy
