It's hard for me to write on the web about the issues I deal with, without compromising the places and people who are involved in the ministries with victims of trafficking and prostitution. The illegality and darkness of it all cannot be talked about in this forum. So today, I'll tell you about another side of my life which is proving to be a delight and encouragement!
In January, at my home church, the First Baptist Church of Fresno, California, was held the first meeting of my "Missionary Partnership Team" (MPT)!To be honest, I dragged my feet about putting this team together, thinking that it would be just another responsibility that I would have to manage. But gentle prodding from my
colleagues at International Ministries persuaded me to invite people that I trusted and care about, and who have been helpful in my ministry, to meet together and plan out ways to support me and the wider ministry, and help carry the load. The two days of meeting together far surpassed any expectations that I had of an MPT.I was inspired.I was amazed.I had fun!
But isn't that often the way of our walk with Christ? So often, Jesus surprises us and turns what, at first, feel like burdens, into amazing, fun moments.
My MPT is an "activist" one... they are finding ways to share my ministry more widely, they are creatively seeking funding sources, they are praying, praying, praying.
If you would like to be a part of my support network, you can:
1)Contact International Ministries for my prayers cards, and to be put on my newsletter mailing list
2)Contribute to the World Mission Offering, directing your giving towards my support if you wish
3)Participate in the "International Christian Conference on Prostitution" to be held at the Green Lake Conference Center, April 22-26, 2006.(For more information, see <www.glcc.org>
Blessings to you all on the journey....
Lauran
