The 2011 theme “Joy” is based on Isaiah 55:12 “You shall go out in joy and be led forth in peace”. The ICAP Global Conference creates and cements regional and global networks, offers emotional, spiritual and physical renewal, and focuses on caring for and resourcing the practitioner of outreach ministries to those who have been trafficked for sexual exploitation.
ICAP’s Global Conference is meant for:
- those currently involved with ministries to women, men and children in prostitution
- those who want to start a ministry
- churches and individuals seeking to learn and support such a ministry
- missionaries, charities, foundations and other organizations seeking resources in this area
International Ministries is a co-sponsor, providing scholarships to women from developing countries so they can attend the event being held at the Green Lake Conference Center in Wisconsin. IM global consultant Lauran Bethell, coordinated the first of these conferences in 2004, the International Christian Conference on Prostitution. Two years later, ICAP was formed at the 2006 “Living Hope” conference.
2011 attendees represent ministries in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin American and North America. They will hear from featured speaker Dr. Dan Allender, Professor of Counseling from the Mars Hills Graduate School. Using humor, Bible wisdom and psychological insight, Dr. Allender will help everyone to enter deeply into the spiritual dynamics facing them as they seek to minister to people in the sex industry.
Two dozen workshops will emphasize 3 areas: Self-Care (grief & trauma, contemplation, meditation and prayer), Working with Men/Women (prevention, rehab, reintegration, restoration) and Relationships (collaborating with governments, churches and other organizations).
