For He has not despised or disdained the suffering of the afflicted one; He has not hidden His face from him but has listened to his cry for  help.” Psalm 22:24

Bondye beni nou, la pe Bondye avek nou, la Bib pa pale menti, Pawol Bondye se verite.

May God bless you, may the peace of God be with you, the Bible does not tell lies, and the word of God is the truth.

God is good and  He does not make mistakes in His plans. I am having a special time while I am learning Creole. Actually, I am living in La Romana, Dominican Republic with relatives of our missionaries, Ketly and Vital Pierre. Mama Raymond, Guyvianie and Jose Marie are my Creole teachers and every day I have to read, write and speak Creole because of the three Jose Marie is the only one who speaks Spanish well. Perhaps it is important to mention that from 7 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Jose Marie goes to school and so I have to speak Creole or just not talk and being quiet is very difficult for someone like me.

I arrived in La Romana in April 2010 and since then I have had the opportunity to visit Haiti on three separate occasions. I have participated in clinics that have been done by the staff from the Hospital Buen Samaritano in La Romana and medical volunteers who come from the USA and Puerto Rico to serve our Haitian brothers and sisters. We have shared many experiences, we have had problems crossing the border, and we were unable to carry food and medicines from La Romana until three weeks after the last trip. The heat in Haiti is intense, the traffic is really congested and we have also heard stories that transform our way of seeing and living life today. In each shared experience it was necessary to exercise our faith, tolerance, humility and above all love. God is good and uses very subtle ways to mold our character and to make Mission an incomparable learning experience.

In this photo we see the story of a young woman who was pregnant with her second child when the earthquake hit on January 12, 2010.  Her husband died in the earthquake and she is facing the reality of having to raise her children alone. It is a reality that keeps her waiting for what God will do for her and her children each day. She does not have a job, nor a secure place to live, and is without suitable help so can only rely on God and this is the reality of many men and women in Haiti today. It is there when God in his mercy moves men and women volunteers to help to mitigate in some way the sorrow, sickness, hunger, lack of clothing, and the need that our brothers and sisters have to feel loved. The needs are great, but each day God listens to the cries of the poor and provides for their needs. This is the testimony of this young mother and up until now, her God has not failed her. To see the strength, the faith and the courage with which this young woman is facing her life served as a lesson for me as to what it truly means to depend on God.

As you know I will be in Haiti full time and if there is something that I need to reinforce it is my reliance on God to accomplish the work that He has for me. Every day I get up with the conviction that it is God who hears the cries of the poor, and it is God who sends us to be His hands, feet, eyes, ears and His voice. It is God who knows the needs of His people and fills their needs through me and you. It is my prayer that God moves you to obey His voice and  that you may feel motivated to come to be renewed and allow yourself to be transformed by the love that God has for you and the Haitian people.

Thank you to all who have prayed, contributed, visited and have come to serve. God loves you very much and God knows.

Your loving sister in Christ,

Deliris
