Rev. Dr. Leslie Braxton

Sunday evening sermon during the Call Retreat May 20th

Dr. Braxton is an avid promoter of holistic ministry and community empowerment.  He extends his ministry work beyond the walls of the church as a frequent lecturer and speaker throughout the nation on a host of issues including, African American history and health issues, the philosophy of non-violence, police accountability, race and class conflict, education, anti-drug and anti-smoking advocacy, homelessness, and a variety of other current events.

In 2000, Dr. Braxton was inducted into the prestigious Morehouse College Board of Preachers.  In 2002, he joined the faculty of the Northwest Graduate School of Theology (now known as the Bakke Graduate University), providing course instruction in African American Church History.  In 2003, the Seattle Urban League presented Dr. Braxton with the Spirit Award for above and beyond community service.

Dr. Braxton is married to his hometown sweetheart, Sheila.  They are blessed with a daughter, Karissa, and a son, Samuel.  His family motto is: “Shelia is the love of my life, Karissa is the darling of my life, Samuel is the pride of my life, but JESUS is the center of my joy.”
