Dr. Ken Fong

Bible study leader during “The Call Globally” mornings, May 22 - 24, and he will be involved in "The Call Retreat" during the weekend May 18 - 20.

A California native, Dr. Ken Fong has been in ministry since 1976, starting out in Sacramento, and then moving to LA in 1981 where he met his future wife, Sharon “Snoopy” Uyeda, and his future church.  This year, they celebrated 30 years of marriage and of serving EBCLA as a pastor.  Ken has led Evergreen LA to be a unique and exemplary multi-Asian, multiethnic, and multigenerational American Baptist church.

Ken says, “During the first 20 years I was more motivated by my personal ambitions to build a high-profile, huge predominantly AsiAm church. But the last 15+ years I have been moved to die to my ambitions and to boldly try and 're-boot' our concept of being Christians and of being the Church.”

Dr. Fong has authored several books, is a frequent blogger and occasional Tweeter.   He’s been a board member of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and Westmont College in Santa Barbara.  He’s currently a trustee of the Asian American Drug Abuse Program in LA where he’s led a monthly Bible study since 1991.  He has also been a church consultant with The Genysys Group since 2009.  Of his many roles, he is most proud of being a husband, a dad and a persevering pastor.
