Rev. Glynis LaBarre

Call Retreat Track leader for "Missional involvement in your community" May 18 -20

Rev. LaBarre is most excited about catching a big picture of the future and working with ministers.  Through her work, she hopes that over time, she can make a difference for American Baptist Church in terms of retooling for future ministry and making sure these churches receive the help they need.

In her local church ministry, Rev. LaBarre was responsible for a turnaround at Delmar Baptist in St. Louis, MO, a historic church that built a new worship center, doubled in attendance and re-established Sunday school for all ages. She initiated transformation at Hope American Baptist Church in Phoenix, AZ, moving it from being a self-contained church to having missional goals. The church's ministry extended to sustaining church plants among Romanians, Hispanics, African Americans and Anglo-Americans. Additionally, Rev. LaBarre developed a ministry training program for Native Americans at All Tribes Community Church in Tulsa, OK, which resulted in 11 tribal elders becoming licensed ministers.

When not working, some of her favorite activities are gardening with her husband and playing with her dogs.
