Christmas Program and Christmas Outreach
The Christmas season is exciting at CRICS (Chiang Rai International Christian School). Well, actually there isn’t a dull moment around the school anytime.
The elementary department put on an impressive musical and drama for the parents and community. The “angels” sang beautifully. The high school seniors sold baked goods to raise money for their senior trip. Only they have decided to use their funds and time to help with the clean-up assistance of the flood victims in southern Thailand.
Then we took part of the show on the road to a Thai school in our community. The high school and middle school had significant roles as well. They are our praise and worship team and do an awesome job. A mixture of hilarious skits showing what Christmas is not followed by the nativity drama and songs. In the next segment a masterful job of telling the Christmas story by a Thai woman included the host school students memorizing Luke 2:11 and answering questions about the presentation that proved they understood and remembered. Wrapped gifts were given to the many that participated.
We gave each child of the school a gift bag of school supplies. The school we gave a large drum. Goodwill established today will likely mean combined activities for the two schools in the future.
We went to a National Park for a picnic lunch and then hiked over the huge rocks playing in the rapid flowing creek and falls.
In the last hours of the day the student body and staff split into 6 groups and traveled to sing carols and give a large fruit basket to persons important to the school. This included heads of the town and village as well as those working to secure international status for the school.
It’s hard to describe the caring, sharing, witnessing, and giving I witnessed today. It was good for those receiving and our students doing the giving as well. It certainly was a touching day on so many levels for us adults that mostly facilitated and observed.
“Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:11
