Last weekend we had the opportunity to be in Cerro Verde with the Women from Mision Chilena's Central District. There were about 50 of them, from seven different churches. We had a great time visiting with each other; most of which we had not seen since the annual convention last January in Panguipulli. The theme of the day was Evangelizing Today and we were able to explore together what our predecessors in the I century did that is still valid for the XXI... A lady came to us later and said that "we tend to try to find the market driven, strategic, most effective methods, and it was refreshing that this time we went back to basics to find out how the disciples learned from Jesus himself and how they managed to accomplish the Great Commission so well that these days we are still proclaiming the Good News." They have requested a follow-up session later in November where we will practice and put those biblical methods together with today's ideas into action and practice together. The emphasis was on the importance of follow-up and discipleship once the Word has been shared and faith commitments for Jesus have been made. Maturity is key in the process. We had a great time together and there were clowns at the end of the afternoon.

Sunday was Mother's Day and we pray you had a wonderful day with your families. We certainly enjoyed the worship service in San Carlos and the gifts the kids gave us. We had the blessing of having three moms from the kids that come to Sunday School with us and they also got their flowers, cards, and candies. It was a sunny day and we celebrated as families the gift of motherhood.

The construction in San Carlos has continued and they put one more wall up providing much needed warmth to the sanctuary. This week materials were provided with the remainder of the resources available which will enable the builders to complete the enclosing of the whole building and inside coverings. More resources will be needed for interior details and furniture which we trust our Lord will provide in His own good time.

Tomorrow we head south to Curacautin (about 3.5 hrs) for the workshop with churches from the Southern District. They are expecting 120 people from their 11 churches in that district; people eager to learn, share, and discuss about Missions and Church Planting in the XXI Century. Our colleague Dwight Bolick and we will be providing the three workshops and share the table during plenary time. We are looking forward to how Mision Chilena processes their own ways to do mission and plant churches. Having seen the birth and growth in San Carlos, we will be sharing some of that experience and, in light of what the Bible tells us, see what can be improved and what should be changed in future opportunities. It promises to be a delightful day in Curacautin, the first of a series of three workshops for the Southern District this year. We will tell you about it in our next journal.

FLASH!!! HAWK!!! RED ALERT!!! Pack your Bible, your toothbrush & paste, comb & hair brush, and your favorite blanky, and prepare to come south of the border. You should leave the States on January 2, 2007 and spend two weeks of fun, work, missions, and learning with real life missionaries (the Bolicks and us) and our Chilean brothers and sisters. La semana pasada tuvimos la oportunidad de estar en Cerro Verde con las Mujeres del Distrito Central de Mision Chilena. Habian unas 50, de siete diferentes iglesias. La pasamos muy bien juntas; muchas de las cuales no veiamos desde la convencion en enero en Panguipulli. El tema del dia fue Evangelizando hoy y pudimos explorar juntas lo que nuestros predecesores del primer siglo hicieron que todavia es relevante en este siglo XXI... Una sennora se nos acerco despues y nos dijo que "usualmente tenemos la tendencia de buscar los metodos mas efectivos, estrategicos y de mercadotecnia y fue refrescante que esta vez nos remontamos a lo basico para redescubrir como los discipulos aprendieron de Jesus mismo y como cumplieron la Gran Comision al punto que todavia hoy estamos proclamando las Buenas Nuevas". Nos pidieron una sesion de seguimiento en noviembre donde podremos practicar y poner esos metodos biblicos en accion con las ideas de hoy en dia para ver su funcionamiento. El enfasis fue en la importancia del seguimiento y el discipulado cuando la Palabra ha sido compartida y hay decisiones y compromisos de fe en Jesus. La madurez es clave en este proces. La pasamos muy rico juntos y hubo payasas al final de la tarde.

El domingo fue el Dia de la Madre y oramos que hayan tenido un dia tan lindo como lo tuvimos nosotros con nuestras familia. Disfrutamos del culto de adoracion en San Carlos y los regalo que los chicos entregaron. Contamos con la bendicion de la presencia de tres mamas de chicos que asisten a la Escuela Dominical y ellas se llevaron las flores, tarjetas y dulces de los chicos. Fue un hermoso dia soleado en que celebramos como familias el regalo de la maternidad.

La construccion en San Carlos ha continuado y pusieron otra pared que provee mas proteccion al santuario. Esta semana se compraron materiales con los recursos que todavia quedaban disponibles que permitiran terminar de cerrar el edificio y forrarlo por dentro. Hacen falta mas recursos para los detalles interiores y el mobiliario y confiamos que el Sennor proveera lo que hace falta en Su tiempo.

Mannana salimos hacia el sur a Curacautin (como 3.5 hrs) para el taller con las iglesias del Distrito Sur. Estan esperando 120 personas de sus once iglesias del distrito; gente deseosa de aprender, compartir y discutir acerca de las Misiones y el Plantio de Iglesias en el Siglo XXI. Nuestro colega Dwight Bolick y nosotros estaremos participando en los tres talleres y compartiendo en la plenaria. Anticipamos ver como la Mision Chilena procesa sus propias formas de hacer mision y plantar iglesias. Habiendo visto el nacimiento y crecimiento en San Carlos, estaremos compartiendo algo de esta experiencia y, a la luz de la Palabra, examinando lo que se puede mejorar o cambiar en futuras oportunidades. Promete ser un dia agradable en Curacautin, en este primero en una serie de tres talleres para el Distrito Sur de este anno. Ya les contaremos en la proxima carta de noticias.

ATENCION!!! ATENCION!!! ATENCION!!! Empaquen su Biblia, su cepillo y pasta de dientes, su peinilla y cepillo del pelo con su sabanita preferida y preparense para venir mas al sur de las fronteras. Deberan estar saliendo de EE.UU. y Puerto Rico el 2 de enero de 2007 para pasar dos semanas de diversion, trabajo, misiones y aprendizaje con misioneros de la vida real (los Bolicks y nosotros ) y nuestros hermanos y hermanas de Chile.
