Sue Hegarty works with the Eastern Cuba Baptist Convention, with whom American Baptists have partnered since 1898.  She serves on the faculty of the Baptist Theological Seminary near Santiago de Cuba which trains pastors and other leaders to serve the exploding number of churches.  The Eastern Cuba Baptist Convention has established more than 400 churches since the triumph of the Cuban Revolution in 1959.

In addition, Sue directs the ConventionĀ“s Editorial Team which writes and edits Bible study materials for the churches.  She was part of the American Baptist missionary team which trained the original group of writers; they continue to produce materials for all age groups.

Sue also visits local churches to do training events as well as serving in her local church.  She feels privileged to serve with committed coworkers and be part of the exciting things that God is doing in Cuba.

Previously Sue served five years in Nicaragua as the Christian Education Promoter for the Baptist Convention, where she and a team of national leaders led teacher training workshops and published Sunday School curriculum.
