Health Project for Tribal People
Back to school means new shoes, new clothes and enjoying those last days of
summer. The children at the House of Love (HOL) are certainly the same as children everywhere, and life has been busy!We are grateful for sufficient funding to buy the needed school supplies and clothes, and for the HOL coordinator, Pi Noon, who manages to get 28 children ready for this event!(She is
an amazing woman!)The children are also in special studies until school starts. For example, some of the Lahu children are doing daily language study to retain this integral part of their cultural. We are still managing some special times—like these craft times pictured here.
Praise:
- Praise God for all the tribal conventions the HPTP staff could attend in April. We are grateful for safety in travels and for the opportunities to share.
- Praise God for the new pickup truck we have received from the Rotary International. It will make transportation so much easier at the House of Love.
- The House of Blessing daycare graduated 9 of their young students! We are grateful that the tribal children from the slums can have a solid opportunity to learn.
Prayer:
- At the House of Love, we have welcomed in the 2 girls we mentioned in the last newsletter (children the daycare staff had identified as being in unsafe situations). Please join us in praying for this transition time.
- Pray for all the children as their school year restarts in May.Pray they would have good relationships with other students and their teachers, and that they would each work to the best of their abilities.
- Please pray for strengthening and joy for Nok, part of our Lisu team. She is carrying a heavy load of responsibility as Lisu materials are developed, as well as organizing for the tribal youth center.Nok is also key in planning for a trip to China in October to work with the Lisu church there.
- We still need dedicated volunteers to teach English at the tribal Youth Center starting in June.
- And to revisit another need—the Health Project for Tribal People is still looking for Akha Christians for the health teams. We pray for God to bring just the right people in His time.
