We are having some of the worst floods in history in Chiang Mai. My downstairs is flooded and the water is still rising. I do not know when I will be able to leave my house. The water is coming up through the drains and toilets now because the drains are all full in the city. We may not be able to use the bathrooms tonight. They predict that the river will rise another 15 cm before it begins to recede.

Kim has been in contact with a member of her MPT who provided additional details.

The floods started about 12 hours ago and have reached about 3 feet high. The river is overflowing and the risk of the dams breaking is so high that the dams are being opened on a periodic basis. Kim has moved upstairs in her house with 2 others and taken necessary food supplies. Her refrigerator has been shut off, the beds on the ground level are covered and items are floating in her downstairs living space. House of Love staff were not able to reach Kim by car, but walked in and pushed her floating car to higher ground.

Currently the flooding is affecting the area where Kim lives and the American School in Chiang Mai. The House of Love is in a secondary flood plan and has not been affected. Kim remains in contact with the House of Love and other American missionaries in Thailand by cell phone.
