Prayer and Praise January, 2006

A new year and we officially start using our new foundation name—you may remember that the IMEM is the umbrella that will cover the Health Project for Tribal People, the House of Love, the House of Blessing (HOB) Day Care Center, and the Tribal Youth Ministry. We will gradually be switching to a new email address at the office: info@imemf.org so please update your address books.

Praise:

  • Thank you for praying for the spiritual revival week that the HPTP staff did at the juvenile detention center. There were 29 young men that came (28 were tribal) and it was a great time of sharing and fun.Decorating cookies was a fun part of the morning for both the Day Care and international school students.
  • Christmas activities were a fun part of December—and we especially praise God for the HOB Day Care children's Christmas program. Many parents attended, and it was a blessing to all.
  • The HOB Day Care children also attended a special program at the Grace International School, where the two 5th grade classes planned a fun morning of games, crafts, presents, and the sharing of the Christmas story. What a wonder to see the students care for the preschoolers! We hope to continue this relationship with another celebration at Easter.
  • Kim's house was sanded and painted—and is livable again! Thanks for all who gave to cover the extra expense!

Prayer:

  • Please join in praying that donors considering underwriting the cost of land to build will look favorably on the House of Love building project.
  • Citizenship is something we are always working on at the House of Love and House of Blessing.Right now we have 2 children, Shebo and Aputanay, that we would like you to be especially praying for, as they have some difficult legal issues to work through before the citizenship can be granted.
  • The Health Project has started the evaluation process!!Please pray that this will be a time of encouragement, as the tribal staff examines their work and results, as well as a time that will give us some clear direction for the needs in the future.

Focus:The Health Project Lisu team:

There are 9 major tribal groups in northern Thailand, and the Health Project has recently begun producing materials in the Lisu language. We are so pleased with Lisu team member Nok prepares to teach using a Lisu flip chart.our team members Nok and Ahbay's diligence in preparing AIDS education flip charts, songs, and posters. The team has already traveled to China to share these materials with the Lisu church there, and have plans to continue this relationship.Nok is also a gifted counselor with women, and she often meets with tribal girls working in bar situations as well as helping with youth center activities.
