January has been a month of completing annual reports. As the staff in the different projects look at the past year, each of us has come away with a feeling of, "To God be the glory!" for all that has been accomplished during the year.I particularly wanted to share the brief paragraph written about the Community Based Rehabilitation Project (CBRP), because the numbers are so encouraging!
Located in Maesariang, the CBRP has continued to positively affect tribal people with disabilities with home visitation (156 different people are followed—38 new
clients in 2006), physical and occupational therapy training, vocational training (some clients are now working independently at home), a school prep program for 14 children with disabilities (3 children have graduated and are in Thai schools), and lots of community training plus teaching in 30 schools and 2 church seminars.
Prayer and Praise Points—We appreciate your ministry of prayer!
- We praise God for the great staff at CBRP, and ask for your prayers for the head nurse and the occupational therapist, who are both pursuing Master's degrees in Public Health. They will be taking their first year exams in early Feb., and need the prayer input as they balance their lives as students with the important ministry they have at CBRP.
- As of January 20th, 8 rai of land (8 rai = 3.162 948 883 acres) officially belongs to the IMEM foundation! Please continue to pray for the whole building process, including the funds that still need to be given.
- The House of Love (HOL) will be the featured ministry at the Chiang Mai Community Church for the special Valentine's Day service that is being planned on Feb. 11th.IMEM has gained so much from this community of believers—such diverse things as support for our AIDS orphans to training on video production—praise God for this fellowship of supporters. Please pray for me as I share the story about the HOL and interview some of the children before they sing for the church. The house father, Khun Adat, will also give his testimony (and I will do the translation into English.)
- The New Year will bring new ways of doing things at the HPTP.Material development is an important part of what the staff does, and we ask for your prayers as we develop information for seminars on sexuality and making moral choices for tribal youth. Also, please pray for the materials on AIDS drugs that will be shared with PHA's (Persons with HIV or AIDS).The HPTP staff also desire to bring PHA's together for more support and encouragement in 2007.
- This past week I was able to share at the Rotary Club meeting here in Chiang Mai.Partnering with Rotarians in the US, they have purchased a number of needed items for the House of Blessing daycare, and it was a joy to be able to personally give our thanks.
We welcome any feedback or suggestions you many have—just contact us at info@imemf.org.To be dropped from this email letter, just let us know at that same address.
