Teaching Ways Of Support And Sharing

On our recent visit to the States some of you received some special bookmarks, which are made to help support some of the lepers and persons with disabilities from McKean Hospital. I might mention that McKean is one of the ministries that our partner organization, The Church of Christ in Thailand, supports. McKean has been in existence for over 100 years, ministering to lepers and others with disabilities, creating limbs, offering therapy, teaching ways of support and sharing the gospel through loving acts of words and deeds.

At a recent event I was talking with a missionary from a different organization who works directly with the handicrafts part of the program. I mentioned that I had purchased several of the lovely metal etched bookmarks to share with friends and family in the States. She then told me this story: On Wednesday of the past week the lady who makes these came to her office and requested to speak with her. The missionary mentioned that she knew that Supapon had been at the center for the past three days and wondered why. Supapon said, "Yes, I came but you weren't here for me to talk to, so I kept coming back until I could see you. I want to know how to become a believer in this Jesus Christ." It was with joy that the missionary was able to lead Supapon to a saving knowledge of Jesus. The missionary went on to share that Supapon had taken all of the Christian literature that she had to Bangkok to share with her mother who is dying of cancer. Supapon told her mother "here is hope for you". The missionary then shared how Supapon's alcoholic husband had begun to read her Bible and to ask questions about who this Jesus is.
