For about two years or so at the First Baptist Church of Montezuma, Georgia I led a Monday Communion service. It was sparsely attended, but the regulars were almost always there. We spent about 15 minutes in singing, praying, and receiving the Lord's Supper. I believe with Paul that in the Lord's Supper we have a special communion with the Lord Jesus (1Cor.10:16). So, it seemed appropriate to begin the "work" week with this regular meeting for communion and spiritual renewal.
This past Monday, June 3rd, I led the students in an early morning Communion service. It was the first day of classes. Several weeks earlier, I was excited when the chairperson of the worship committee asked me if I would do this every Monday for the students and any others who might want to attend. So, for at least the next 15 weeks I will join with our students on Monday morning at 7:00. Together we will sing a couple of songs, pray, and have communion with our Lord Jesus.
By Your grace, may this weekly experience make us better teachers and better students. Amen.
