Prayer Requests

August 3, 2003

I keep a personal journal in which I record reflections on scripture, recent events, and prayer concerns. I have been stumped about what to write for my official IM Journal this month. I kept seeing various prayer requests floating to the surface and finally realized that this time I needed to share those requests rather than a story. So, as in my personal journal, here are some prayer requests, this time written to God through you.

First, pray for me as I try to fulfill new responsibilities as Fellowship Chairperson. In the searing heat of Cha-am, our mission fellowship of seven different Baptist mission organizations elected me as the Fellowship Chair for the next year. I mention the "searing heat" since it must have been a factor!

Second, pray for me as I prepare to preach at Taamaprathip Church in the near future. They have asked me to help them think about the importance of our Church heritage.

Third, pray for my students. All but one passed my mid-term exams. They actually did very well. However, as in any University setting there are temptations that seek to draw the students away from studies and from Christian living.

Fourth, pray for a couple who e-mailed me this week. They are Southern Baptists who want to serve God as missionaries. They are former students of mine from six or seven years ago. Politically, they no longer fit with the SBC and were asking about mission opportunities with American Baptists. Pray that God will enable them to serve the Gospel with IM or some other mission organization.

Finally, I am praying for many churches in my former denomination. I am praying that they will find their way home to the American Baptist family. This is a personal pray, but if you feel led, I welcome your support in it as well.

Next month -- a story -- I promise!
