Dear Family and Friends,
It's getting pretty hectic around here. In the next four or five weeks, Pat and I will be packing up our goods for storage. We also have final exams to give and grade. I have a five-day trip to southeastern Thailand with some other faculty and students for a meeting with similar groups from other seminaries in Thailand. Then Pat and I will be going with the majority of our students for a weeklong work camp where we will help a congregation build a church building. For the first part of the week, Pat and I will be the only faculty with about 70 students. Pray for this annual event. May the Spirit of Christ be evident in all that we do.
Shortly after all the work is done, we will begin our trip to the States. We will be flying into Atlanta on April 6. We should be in the States for around 12 months.
What are our goals for this stateside assignment?
- We want to spend time with family members and reconnect with old friends.
- We want to visit in the American Baptist churches from whom we have received encouragement. Most of you we have never seen. We hope that you will be contacting your regional Minister of Mission Support to schedule a time when we can be with you.
- We want to share the story of our mission work in Baptist churches all over the United States. (We look forward to sharing in Southern Baptist and Cooperative Baptist churches as well. Please contact us directly to schedule a time.)
While we are excited about being back in the States for 12 months, we also feel uncomfortable about being gone from the school here for a whole year. Pray for us as we prepare to leave, but also say a prayer for McGilvary – both students and faculty – that God will provide for their needs in our absence.
We will be coming home with a folder full of prayer requests that the students have made. I told them that Baptists in America were a praying people and promised to share those requests in the churches. We look forward to uniting with you in prayer for students like Chai, Arita and Knungnit.
Pray for us until such time as we can meet together face to face.
Peace In Him,
LaMon and Pat Brown
