Dear Friends and Family,
We just got this message below with the request to send it to Jason and Lori's email list. We wanted to send it out to our list as well. Many of you know our son Jason. We do ask again that you keep them in your prayers.
Peace,
LaMon
Dear friends and family,
You have all heard about the earthquake that hit Asia on Dec. 26, and most of you have already realized that the epicenter was closest to the people we work with.We keep seeing on the news the shots of our old hometown where we lived for 8 months and are continuing to try to contact friends who are living there. The devastation is incomprehensible. Please pray for the recovery effort that we are currently in the middle of.We are unharmed, as we were in Chiang Mai, Thailand, visiting Lori's parents for Christmas when the earthquake hit.
Jason is driving up from our home tonight to the main city to deliver food to the victims. The drive normally takes 10-12 hours.Pray for his safety, his energy level, and emotional state as he goes to the disaster site, where thousands of dead bodies are still lying around.
Foreigners have not been allowed into A-land for a year and a half now. This will be the first time we have been able to go into A-land in a long time.
The UN just got access yesterday, and today Jason got permission to go in for relief. He will be there one day to survey the situation and return to train locals and gather relief supplies to return in January.
Bodies are hanging from electrical lines, and the stench of death is unbearable.People are starving, and relief supplies are hung up south of the province.Babies are starving whose mothers were swept away by the waters. There is little clean water, and sanitation is also a problem.
We are sending baby formula, peanuts, and other basic needs to try to sustain lives of those who are barely hanging on.Pray for this distribution to literally save lives. The trauma of this event is something that will take years to recover from.Parents lost children.Children lost parents. Husbands lost wives and children.Mothers lost their babies.
Neighbors and friends are gone.Pray for this unspeakable event to forever mark the spiritual history of the A people.May this be a turning point where hardened hearts softly open to spiritual truth.Pray for wisdom and energy as we serve those in need.Pray for hearts to turn to Jesus.
Lori and Jason
Here is the latest news from Lori and Jason. We spoke with Jason this morning and he said he was one of less than 5 foreigners in Banda Ache.He said he got 4 hours sleep in the 48 hours he was there. He asks for continued prayer for himself and especially for Lori as she has to keep up the home front as well as take care of Nico.
I will send more details as we get them. Praise God for the many contacts that Jason and Lori have in BA and that most of their friends and their families survived.Pray for God to open doors and hearts.
Peace In Him,
Pat Brown

Dear family and friends,
We are thankful to be able to help out with the relief effort in Aceh. Please pray for Jason as he is there now.He just called me and said that there is so little help going on, and the devastation is more than you could imagine. He has convinced one of our surviving friends and her mother to move to a safer location.Their area of town is so full of dead bodies and the threat of cholera makes it dangerous. The mother didn't want to move because they lost her daughter and granddaughter. So, she wants to stay and find them. However, Jason was able to convince them to leave a sign on the door with their whereabouts and move to a safer location.
There is tons of aid here in Medan, but almost none of it is reaching the starving babies, kids and adults in Aceh. There is no fuel for cars nor gas.Jason bought several gallons and took them up in our car. Please pray that people will be able to get food so no more victims will have to die.
The lack of assistance is alarming.Jason had to go to the airport with three passport photos, 2 passport copies, and an ID copy to get the necessary paperwork to enter the province. We don't understand why they aren't just letting foreigners freely enter Aceh due to the need to enter quickly.Due to the fuel and paperwork issues, the people are starving.
There is almost no medical care.It has been 6 days since the quake and tsunamis, and still so little aid is actually reaching the people.
- Please pray for believers to obtain fuel to get trucks and take supplies to the people. We have a couple of experts coming to train some locals in two days. This will help locals know what to do.
- Pray for believers to be a blessing to these victims in their time of need.
On a lighter note, here's a photo of Nico at Christmas in Chiang Mai.He loved
the Christmas tree, and started opening presents several days before Christmas! :) His favorite gift was the banana in his stocking!! :)He loves to eat! :)
Blessings,
Lori
