Daniel_martino_editedA native of San Juan, Puerto Rico, Rev. Daniel Martino is a graduate of Macalester College in St. Paul, MN, with a BA in Sociology and Hispanic Literature. He earned an M.Div in 1987 from the Evangelical Seminary of Puerto Rico.

In 1984, he accepted the call to ministry as Associate Pastor at his childhood church in Puerto Rico.  After his ordination, Daniel served as Pastor  for 14 years in a rural church where he developed as a community leader.  Daniel was both founder and Director of the CastaƱer Christian Academy of Puerto Rico; a non-traditional bilingual school that served as an educational alternative throughout the area.  In 2000, Daniel received the call to Pastor the First Hispanic Baptist Church of New London, CT, where he faced the enormous challenge of overseeing the construction of its new and modernized sanctuary.

Daniel views the church as a center for enrichment of the Hispanic family unit; one that could serve those families not only as a place of refuge, but also as a bridge to connect these families with their dreams and aspirations. It is because of this vision that his church plans to begin a corporation of ministries that would target three major areas; family services, holistic health and education.

Besides his fulltime commitment to ministry, Daniel enjoys cooking, traveling and reading. An educator all his life, Daniel seeks to insure the growth of the Hispanic community through education of its children. Along with Grace, his wife and companion of unconditional support, they have set in motion these ideals with their own children; Daniel Stefan, Javier Orlando and Grace Lorean, better known as their most precious treasures.
